Privacy Policy
Version 2026-10-30 ยท Last updated 30 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data the Swift Rider passenger app, the Swift Driver app and our website collect, why we collect it, who receives it, and how you can have it deleted. "Swift Rider", "we" and "us" mean the operator of these services in Windhoek, Namibia.
1. What we collect
| Data | Who | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Phone number | Passengers, drivers | Create your account, send one-time verification codes by SMS, contact you about a ride |
| Name, email, profile photo | Passengers, drivers | Show who is riding or driving, support and receipts |
| Precise location | Passengers, drivers | Set pickup, match nearby drivers, show live trips. Drivers share location with booked passengers during active journeys, including while the phone is locked |
| Trip details | Passengers, drivers | Pickup and drop-off addresses, route, times, fare, ratings and cancellations |
| Payment information | Passengers, drivers | Payment status, references, wallet balances and withdrawal requests. Card payments are handled by our payment provider |
| Identity, licence and vehicle documents | Drivers | Verify drivers before they can go online |
| Trusted contacts | Passengers | People you choose for trip sharing and safety features |
| Device and app information | Passengers, drivers | Push notification tokens, trusted-device sign-in, error reports and security checks |
Face ID or fingerprint unlock on your phone is handled by your device. We do not receive your biometric data.
2. How we use it
- To run the service: sign you in, match riders and drivers, calculate fares, take and record payments and send ride updates.
- To keep people safe: verify drivers, apply ratings rules, detect abuse and fraud, and support trip sharing.
- To support you, resolve disputes and meet accounting and legal duties.
- To improve reliability by fixing errors and measuring demand.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. Who receives it
- Other users. A booked driver sees what is needed to complete the ride, such as your name, pickup and drop-off. A passenger sees the driver's name, photo, vehicle details and live position.
- Payment provider. We use DPO to process payments.
- SMS provider. Twilio sends verification codes and some ride messages.
- Google Firebase. Delivers push notifications and stores profile photos.
- TomTom. Provides map search, routing and map tiles. Searches and routes are requested through our servers.
- Hosting and monitoring. Our servers run on Railway. Error reports may go to Sentry when enabled.
- Authorities and advisers. When the law requires it, or to protect people's safety and rights.
If you open a shared location in an external map, the coordinates you open are sent to that map service (OpenStreetMap).
4. Location
Passengers share location while using the app to set pickup and follow a ride. Drivers share location while online and during active journeys. Sharing stops when the journeys end or the driver goes offline. You can turn location permission off in your phone settings, but you then cannot book or accept rides.
5. Trip sharing links
If you share a trip, we create a private link that anyone holding it can open. The link expires after two hours, you can stop sharing at any time, and it stops showing location when the trip ends. The page shows vehicle status and position only, not your contact details or addresses. Sharing a trip does not alert emergency services.
6. How long we keep data and how to delete it
You can request deletion in the app or at api.swift-rider.com.co/delete-account. We verify your phone number, review the request, and aim to finish within 30 days. We cannot finish while you have an active ride or unsettled money. Deletion removes your profile, contacts, documents and location data and disables the account. We keep financial records that we must hold for accounting, tax or dispute reasons, and we tell you what was kept. Copies in backups expire on their normal schedule.
7. Security
Connections use HTTPS. Verification codes and sign-in tokens are stored in protected form, access to driver documents is restricted, and failed or repeated sign-in attempts are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone and codes private.
8. Your choices
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it or delete it by emailing support@swift-rider.com.co. You can switch off notifications, location, camera and contacts permissions in your phone settings.
9. Children
Swift Rider is for adults. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
10. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we update the version above and ask you to accept the new version in the app. Questions: support@swift-rider.com.co.
